Zebco 33 Fishing Reel Review
So which is the best Zebco 33 spincast reel? Well as in most cases, that depends. It depends on where you fish and what you are fishing for. None of the Zebco 33 fishing reels are recommended for saltwater fishing.
I would bet good money that if you are a fisherman or have ever fished, that you have probably fished with a Zebco 33. My first reel was a 33. I fished with that reel up until I went into the Air Force.
I have had a lot of Zebco 33’s since then and still have two – a Zebco 33 Classic reel and a regular old Zebco 33 fishing reel. I have caught bream, crappie, catfish, largemouth bass and even some pretty large northern pike when I was stationed in North Dakota on Zebco 33 reels. These fishing reels are dependable, easy to use and can be found at a price that almost anyone can afford.
This is your basic Zebco 33 reel and comes spooled with 100-yards of 10-lb Cajun fishing line. If it makes a difference to you, the retrieve ratio is 3.6:1. This is their best seller and the one that most people wind up buying.
It’s awfully hard to beat a Zebco spincast reel and this one has the look and feel of the “classic” 33 that you probably fished with as a kid or maybe you’re still fishing with one. I still fish with mine!
Would make a great gift for a kid or anyone else who wants a reliable, dependable fishing reel that is easy to cast and doesn’t cause any problems.
This is an ultralight spincast reel that should work really well for redbreast, trout, crappie and bass. Casting and retrieving is as smooth as silk, and its compact size makes it an ideal reel for kids or anyone who likes ultralight fishing.
The fishing reel comes spooled with 90-yards of 4-lb test line. You could also spool it with 6-lb line if you wanted to but if you are into ultralight fishing then the 4-lb line should be just right.
This reel is basically the same as the Zebco 33 Micro above and is also often called an underspin reel. A triggerspin reel normally mounts under your rod. You use a finger to pull up on the trigger and hold it. Then when you make your cast, you release the trigger. When the bait hits the water you turn the reel handle and take up any slack in the line.
These reels are great for catching small panfish and it is also a lot of fun playing larger fish on these ultralight reels.
The Zebco 33 Max comes spooled with 100 yards of 20-lb test Cajun fishing line. This is the heavy-duty fishing reel that you need if you plan on catching large bass and catfish. You could probably also catch northern pike and muskies on these reels.
